Now I know What Non-Smokers Complain About
Tuesday, December 30th, 2008I had to walk into a bar today that actually was smoking. I ended that habit a couple months ago and haven’t really thought about this because I frequent bars that are non-smoking due to the city bans. Then I got sick and wasn’t out at all.
Now I’m in a bar working on a computer for that establishment. When I walked into the Bar, I could smell it. In the bar, in the bathrooms, even an area that is a “non smoking area”.
There is a guy to the right of me smoking menthol cigarettes. When he blows the smoke out, it shoots right in my direction.I am a little bit perturbed about that. When I did smoke, I always made it a priority to blow smoke up in the air – so the majority of the time the smoke would go up and away. Therefore no-one else would get a puff of 2nd hand carcinogens.
However, I don’t and will not chastise the person smoking. I really think in this day and age where businesses are wondering if they will be around tomorrow, we shouldn’t be putting a restriction on something that is suppose to be legal to do. I said it before when I smoked, I’ll say it again – it’s the land of the Free and the home of the Brave.. except for smokers.
I am happy I am here. I thought I might be tempted to have a cigarette. I am not. I still have a long way to go on that, but I think I will be able to sit in a smoking area without wanting to do so.
